I’m Norman Houle, a writer creating stories for young readers — from imaginative picture books to young adult fiction shaped by adventure, the natural world and a bit of the unusual. My work draws on a lifetime of exploration, the family stories that shaped my childhood and my own curious nature.

Norman Houle is a writer whose work spans young adult fiction and children’s storytelling. His YA novel, The Zemi, was inspired by discovering an ancient people and their culture, while his picture book Itchy and Kitchy is inspired by cherished family stories of adventure. Before turning to fiction, Norman built a long career in technology leadership and wrote technical articles for industry publications. He hails from the state of Maine but currently lives in Texas, and continues to develop stories rooted in lived experience, adventure, and curiosity.
